June 22, 2008 I get knocked down but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down.
Tubthumping busts out from the iPod. I sing along gleefully. I am tired, full, and happy from a full and fulfilling weekend.
"This is like your theme song, isn't it?" Patty asks with a grin. I've told her my theory of the universe handing me free passes every few years. She's heard a few of my stories this weekend. It's hard to argue against it when you know my life. The "knocked down" parts almost seem to fade into the background compared to the crescendo that inevitably follows.
Yesterday as we sat by the firewood pile taking a breather from one of the many climbs up the hill on the way back from the chill area to the campsite, a guy stopped to talk to us just to mention how "the universe has been good" to him. I agreed wholeheartedly with his choice of words, and smiled at the thought that my good fortune might be contagious.
Got back to Baltimore around 15:30 and hung out at Emma's entertaining and being entertained by Corey and Micah behind the bar. Enzo showed up with a 512 MB SD memory card he found on the ground after the gay pride party at the park, and I taught Micah the beauty of photorec to recover deleted pictures on his new (to him) Eee PC.
And then there was a wedding... (more later)
