July 4, 2008 Got pulled over by MSP tonight for the second time in over twelve years and several hundred thousand miles of driving. The first time was by local police in New Jersey for doing donuts in the snow of my high school parking lot after a class trip to see Carmina Burana in 1996.
Thankfully I am a polite, sober, emergency responder who occasionally misses speed limit signs on unfamiliar roads. The trooper was also polite and benevolent; after taking my information and checking my status in the computer for five minutes he let me go with a written warning.
Great party at Suz and Chris' place tonight, met some interesting people and picked up a pair of fire poi for the first time in at least two years. I did a pretty nice set if I do say so myself. I can't wait to see the pictures Mary took on her D70. Hopefully I can post them up in a few days to share.
I can't tell if it was exchanging punches with Rebecca or the poi spinning but my shoulders hurt like hell now. Maybe some pre-party stretching would have made a difference. Luckily I have a warm shoulder pad in the form of an affectionate kitten to soothe me to sleep.
