October 13, 2008 Meta Blogging When I moved away from my MacBook Pro and to the Eee as my primary writing computer, I had to find a different writing program and template that I was comfortable using. For a while I was using kwrite as my editor of choice, but the lack of a good immediate-feedback spell-check program irritated me. I finally settled on using OpenOffice with all the auto-correct features disabled and a custom document template I designed. Although Mary very recently decried the double spaced essay format as a needless requirement of academia, I find it strangely comforting to have that extra vertical room between my lines -- even if it is just on a computer screen. It does give everything I write a smarter feeling than I'm sure a simple blog entry actually deserves. Of course once I post it, all the formatting goes to whatever CSS and interface my readers happen to be using at the time be it the blog, or AvantGo (remember that) or one of the many feedreaders that hit the server dozens of times per hour.
